Wales is not only known for its stunning landscapes but also for its rich history and numerous haunted locations. Why not visit some of these locations this half term.

<\/strong>An 800-year-old mansion has long captured the imagination of storytellers. There is the tragic story of Elizabeth Williams, a young woman said to have died of a broken heart after her father locked her away to stop her marrying the man she loved.
It was immortalised in the Victorian novel “The Maid of Sker”, <\/em>inspired by the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The house itself has a dark and violent past. In the 16th century, it was the site of brutal attacks against Catholics, the very faith on which the house was founded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, some believe that history still lingers within its walls. Witnesses have reported hearing high-pitched screeches, screams, and haunting cries. Others claim to have seen shadowy figures, particularly in the room where Elizabeth is said to have been confined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many who enter the house describe an overwhelming sense of unease\u2026 with some even saying they felt physically sick.

Llandaff Ghosts of Taff Trail<\/strong>

Llandaff is home to a cluster of ghost stories, five in total, many of them dating back to around the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most well-known, is the tale of a young boy, often seen dressed in blue, who is said to have drowned while playing along the banks of the River Taff. His mother, too, is believed to haunt the area. Late at night, some witnesses claim to have seen the figure of a woman wading through the water, as if still searching for her son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paranormal investigators in Wales suggest that her spirit continues that search to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another story tells of a woman named Bella, who took her own life in the area more than a century ago. Some believe her presence still lingers along the Taff Trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then there\u2019s the ghost of a man said to have died by suicide in Llandaff\u2019s graveyard. According to local accounts, he follows visitors at a distance and some on guided ghost tours even claim to have felt an unexplained touch, as though someone was trying to get their attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craig y Nos has a long and layered history. At the turn of the 20th century, it was the home of a world-famous opera star and later became a sanatorium for children suffering from tuberculosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it\u2019s the stories from inside the building that continue to unsettle visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The television programme Most Haunted<\/em> once investigated the site, and members of the crew claimed the old salt cellar is home to what they described as a particularly unpleasant presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Down in the cellar, there\u2019s also the so-called slab room, the place where opera star Adelina Patti\u2019s body was prepared after her death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one of the upper rooms, TV psychic Derek Acorah said he sensed something deeply disturbing, describing the feeling that a child had once been pushed from a window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most well-known spirit said to haunt the castle is Robert Scott, a former gamekeeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Witnesses claim he\u2019s often seen slowly ascending the grand staircase\u2026 a shadowy figure replaying the past.
